The Legal Executive

Reporting on CILEX and the legal executive profession

What CILEX publishes

2,236 documents — 985 from CILEx Regulation and 1,251 from the Chartered Institute. Handbooks, codes, annual reports, consultations, board papers and a great deal that is none of those. Every one is linked to where it sits on their own site.

Neither body publishes a list of this. The regulator's resource library shows a few hundred items behind a JavaScript filter and the sitemap's links to them redirect to the filter itself; the professional body has no index at all. Both run WordPress and both expose the media library through its REST API, which is where this came from — the same documents, plus everything the resource library never listed.

Classified by title and filename. 'Other' is what no pattern matched, and it is the largest group by a distance.

What is here and what is not

The title, the date, the kind and a link. Not the document. These are CILEX's and CILEx Regulation's copyright, published by them, and this site holds the same line for them that it holds for the firms' biographies and the regulator's own disciplinary prose: a fact about a document is not the document.

Classification is by pattern over the title and filename, so it is rough — 'other' is 65% of the estate and contains everything from committee papers with uninformative names to genuinely miscellaneous uploads. The date is taken from the title where one appears there and from the upload date otherwise, which is flagged on each entry, because an annual report published in 2024 covering 2022–23 is a document about 2023.
